This post should probably be titled "The Florist's Daughter" because working alongside the Mother-Daughter powerhouse that was Shelby (Bride) and her Mom Robin (Owner and Lead Designer of Ridgemont Farms Florist) was truly a one-of-a-kind planning scenario! I first toured the grounds of Robin Hill Park with bride Shelby and her mother Robin during the dreary months of a western PA winter. Together we scoped out the various on-site locations for the ceremony, cocktails, and the main reception, which would entail the installation of a forty by ninety tent equipped with bistro lights, a dance floor, and you guessed it – tons of gorgeous fresh-cut flowers.
In true daughter of the florist fashion, Shelby was not shy when it came to incorporating color into her floral selections. Shelby's wedding color palette was full of rich hues including, ruby, magenta, fuchsia, red, and pops of ever-so-soft blushes. By springtime the grounds of Robin Hill Park would be lush with greenery, the perfect backdrop for a palette as vibrant as this.
The day of Shelby and Alex’s wedding was the Super Bowl of weddings for Robin and her tactful floral team. An entourage of the most delightful and knowledgeable staff arrived in the early hours of the morning to begin executing a pristine design plan crafted by the visionary Mother-Daughter duo. Every corner of the venue's historic 1920’s home was adorned with bright fresh blooms. The florals were playful, rich, and very welcoming, they truly set the tone for a joyous day. By mid-afternoon, the day-of production vendors had transformed what was once a flat parcel of grass just a few hours prior into a fairytale garden wedding venue. Some of my favorite elements of the design included a black and white checkered dancefloor that anchored dinner and dancing, and lastly, the whimsical bistro lights strung up above guest tables mimicking a starlit sky.
